John W. Clark IV
John Clark has nearly 20 years of experience handling corporate and business litigation. Over those two decades, John also expanded his practice to include various business and transactional matters, real property disputes and transactions, and bankruptcy issues. John prides himself on being able to cover nearly any legal needs of a small- to medium-sized business. In addition to handling business and commercial matters and disputes, John developed an expertise in real property issues, including dealing with tax sales, tax deeds/certificates, and tax liens. John also works with both debtors and creditors regarding bankruptcy issues.
John obtained a B.S. in Business Administration and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill in 2001. John then earned an M.A. in Banking and Finance from the University of Alabama in 2002 before attending the University of Alabama School of Law and obtaining his Juris Doctorate in 2005. Following graduation, John spent two years with a well-respected Mobile firm before moving to Birmingham in 2007 and starting as an associate at Bainbridge Mims. John eventually became a partner at Bainbridge Mims before starting his own firm in 2017 – Clark Law Firm PC. In 2024, John returned to Bainbridge Mims to continue helping clients with their business legal needs.
John has served in various roles with the Alabama State Bar Association and the Birmingham Bar Association over the years. He has been included on the Alabama and Southeast Super Lawyers® list every year since 2014, including being selected as one of the state’s Top 50 lawyers in 2020 and 2021. John is recognized by Best Lawyers for Real Property Litigation and is rated AV Preeminent® by Martindale-Hubbell®.
John is married to the former Jennifer Hoover, who is also a lawyer at a prominent firm in Birmingham. John and Jennifer have two daughters, two dogs, two cats, and a fish. John enjoys golf, tennis, and Carolina and Alabama sports.
